For this case we have that the lateral area of the prism is given by the following expression:
 A = (6) * (L) * (h)
 Where,
 L: hexagon side
 h: prism height
 Substituting the values we have:
 A = (6) * (3.5) * (4)
 A = 84 cm ^ 2

Ok turns out this question is actually very simple and you are overthinking it!

Just only calculate all it's sides but not its base.

It would be

A=bh*6

A=3.5*4*6

A=84
