What would it be like to see the events of the code of Hammurabi through the eyes of someone who lived back then?

It would probably be more gruesome compared to living today in Western society. Mostly due to the fact that the code of Hammurabi had qutie strict punishments in place and enforced them with great zeal when they had to be enforced. For that reason, seing all the different laws being enforced was probably very hard to watch.
