The thick loess deposits in South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa come from Glacial Sediments.

The glaciers contain ice, snow, water, rocks and sediment and when the glacier moves, it pushes rocks and sediments which is called glacial sediment. The thick loess deposits in South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa come from same Glacial Sediments of the Last Glacial Period (of Ice Age).
