6 divided by 1/4 is 24 so she can make 24 cakes.

You can make 24 cakes with 6 cups of oil. 

If you need further proof you can multiply 24 * 1/4
24/1 * 1/4 
and you just multiply across 

= 24/4

and 24/4 simplified is 6
