"Greek Democracy" refers to the direct participation and responsibility of Athenian citizens in decision making,while "Roman republic" refers to the governance of the state.This does not have to do with public decision making,whether democratic or autoritarian,as it started from the democratic rome and ended with the autoritarian emperors:)
