The surface area (SA) of a cube, which has 6 faces, is the 6 times the area of one face, length×length, or:
[tex]{l}^{2} \times 6[/tex]
And the volume (V) of a cube is the length times width times depth, which are all the same (length×length×length), or:
[tex]{l}^{3} [/tex]
Therefore the SA/V ratio is:
[tex]6 {l}^{2} \div {l}^{3} = 6( {6}^{2}) \div ( {6}^{3} ) = 6(36) \div 6 \div 216 = 216 \div 216 = 1[/tex]
