Which is correct : Alf and Pat are so identical that it is difficult to pick up the (oldest/ older) of the two. Explain your answer.

"Oldest of the two" would make more sense. Older would not be correct because "of the two" is there after the older/oldest. If "of the two" wasn’t there, then older would make more sense.
