You have to use the distance formula which is:

Distance = √(x2 - x1)^2 + (y2 - y1)^2

Using the coordinates given.

D = √(4 - (-2)^2 + (1 - 4)^2

D = √(6)^2 + (-3)^2

D = √36 + 9

D = √45

D = √9 × 5

D = 3√5
