Why do you think the Church wanted to forbid people to read certain books?

Church leaders thought that followers might start to question some religious practices or begin to doubt the church in lifestyles. Books also are thought to be sources of different evil when they are fantasy or fiction, and have aspects such as witches or wizards, it is thought of by many Church leaders as spreading the work of the devil.
