The volume of a substance can directly be calculated by the ratio of mass and density. That is:

volume = mass / density

 

Since the mass is 4.5 kg or 4500 grams, therefore:

volume = 4500 g / (8.89 g / cm^3)

volume = 506.19 cm^3
