When a system of equations has no solutions it called an inconsistent system of equations.

When you graph the equations, you will find that they will be parallel to one another. In other words, they won't intersect. On the other hand, a system of equations with one solution when graphed will have a point where they intersect. That intersection is the solution to the system of equations.
