Elimination method for x+7y=0 and 2x-8y=22

2x - 8y = 22
-2(x + 7y = 0)

2x - 8y = 22
-2x - 14y = 0
------------------
-22y = 22
y = -1

substitute y into one of the previous equations to find x.

x + 7y = 0
x + 7(-1) = 0
x - 7 = 0
x = 0 + 7
x = 7

(-7, -1)

Check.

7 + 7(-1) = 0
7 - 7 = 0

2(7) - 8(-1) = 22
14 + 8 = 22
