How do I solve this problem 6x+1=6x-8

Add 8 to one to equal 9. So --> 6x+9=6x.
Or minus 1 from 8 to equal 7. So --> 6x=6x-7.
Then divide both 6's (cancel them out). Which leaves you with either 9 or -7. :)
