The expression:

[tex]16-(-13)-3-(-5)+8[/tex]

When we have a negative sign before a parenthsis, we can put this sign in the elements inside it. When you have two negative signs, they turn into a positive sign. Applying this, we have:

[tex]16+13-3+5+8[/tex]

Now, we can just do the operations in any order, because they are all additions and substractions:

[tex]\begin{gathered} 29-3+5+8 \\ 26+5+8 \\ 31+8 \\ 39 \end{gathered}[/tex]
