dy/dx =  1 / (1 + t^2)^1/2 * 1/2(1 + t^2)^-1/2 * 2t

=  2t/(1 + t^2)^1/2 * 1/ (2(1 + t^2)^1/2

=   2t / 2(1 + t^2)

= t / ( 1 + t^2).
