-8 < 2x-4 < 8

Add 4 to all sides:

-8 + 4 < 2x -4 + 4 < 8 + 4

Simplify :

-4 < 2x < 12

Divide all sides by 2:

-4/2 < 2x/2 < 12/2

Simplify to get the answer:

-2 < x < 6
