why are sedimentary rocks are called stratified rock

Answer:

Strata means Layers. Sedimentary rocks are formed by accumulation and hardening of sediments such as mud, sand, silt and disintegrated rocks over a period of time which are arranged in layers. Therefore we call them stratified rocks.
