Middle number in sequence is the median, in this case median is 9.

1.) Put the numbers in order from Least to Greatest
4,6,8,9,11,12,13

2.) Take away the number that are for sure not the median.
4,6,8,9,11,12,13
6,8,9,11,12
8,9,11

3.) The median is 9
