World War 1 had taken a massive toll on the American economy though they did use war bonds to fund the war effort. It eventually recovered through export trading and an industrial boom. The Great Depression was NOT caused by WW1; in fact, during the 1920s, America would experience a golden age of successful economy and culture. The Great Depression was caused by consumer spending (overproduction), fewer investments, tariffs, etc.
