Answer: Georgia was set up as a philanthropic experiment and a military buffer against Spanish Florida. It was set up with a utopian society with no slavery, no rum, only 500 acres a person, but this soon collapsed. It was a successful buffer for Spanish Florida, but it inadvertently became a commercial success. The Indians helped influence by putting the English against the Spanish.
