Answer:

17 a(ii) : 4 -  2√3 and -4 +2√3.

Step-by-step explanation:

17 a (i).

(2 - √3)^2 = 4 - 4√3 + 3

= 7 - 4√3.

(ii) 28 - 16√3

= 4(7 - 4√3)

Now √4 = +/-2 and √7 - 4√3 =  2 - √3  ( as found in part (i)).

So the 2 square roots are 2(2 - √3)   and -2(2 - √3)

= 4 -  2√3 and -4 +2√3.
