Oliver Cromwell led the military forces of parliament against the Kings troops in a period known as the English Civil War. Oliver Cromwell was not only a great military leader, but he was also a renowned political leader. Later on he went on to become the Lord Protector of England, Ireland and Scotland. He was born in the year 1599 and died of natural causes in the year 1658. In the year 1630 he underwent a religious conversion and became an independent Puritan.
