The Roman Empire was so vast that the roads helped connect all of the different regions associated with it. They provided easier transportation for merchants so the Roman economy was able to grow through increased trade. Furthermore, the roads allowed for the armies to easily go out and conquer new land which provided the economy with more labor and goods.
