Children were often used to work long hours in dangerous factory conditions for very little money mainly because Children were useful for their size. It allowed them to move in small spaces in factories or mines where adults couldn’t fit, children were easier to manage and control. in other cases some families were poor and were not able to hire people to work for them so they would use their own children for no pay. They needed the income to stay within the family.
