John drives 257 miles and uses 9 gallons of gas. How many miles per gallon did he get?

This problem can solve by the rule of three:
275 miles---------------9 gallons
x---------------------------1 gallons.

x=(275 miles * 1 gallons) / 9 gallons=28.55555.... miles≈28.56 miles.

Answer: 28.56 miles.
