Make the denominators of the fractions equal.

LCM of 6 and 12 = 12

[tex] \frac{2}{6} = \frac{2 \times 2}{6 \times 2} = \frac{4}{12} \\ \\ \frac{3}{12} = \frac{3 \times 1}{12 \times 1} = \frac{3}{12} [/tex]

Now we can compare the fraction:

[tex] \frac{3}{12} < \frac{4}{12} \\ \\ thus \: \boxed{ \frac{3}{12} < \frac{2}{6} }[/tex]
