The correct answer is no.
The development of retinoblastoma occurs as a consequence of mutation of genes RB1 or MYCN. Those mutations occur in the early stages of fetal development and affect the way in which cells grow and develop within the body. The more common is the defective RB1 gene that can be inherited from either parent. The expression of the RB1 allele is autosomal dominant.
