The sum of 2 numbers is 65. 5 times the smaller number is 25 more than the larger. Find the numbers

a+b=65, 5a=b+25

from the first, a=65-b, using this in the second...

5(65-b)=b+25

325-5b=b+25

300-5b=b

300=6b

b=50, and since a+b=65:

a=15

So the two numbers are 15 and 50
